PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Polina Herman has been in the film industry since 2012. She began her journey directly on set, working in various positions—from catering and the costume department to assistant and coordinator roles across different departments. This provided her with a deep understanding of all stages of film production and led to her gradual realization that she wanted to develop as a film producer.
Alongside her work on set, and drawing on her background as a PR specialist, Polina began organizing premieres and managing PR campaigns, promotion, and distribution for Ukrainian cinema. Starting in 2013, she served as PR Director at Insight Media LLC, where she was responsible for the communication strategies of Ukrainian film releases. She later worked at “435 Films” and “Big Hand Films,” specializing in the distribution of Ukrainian cinema.
In 2015, Polina began working as a line and executive producer, participating in the creation of a series of feature and documentary films. In 2016, she worked as a producer at the state film studio “National Cinematheque of Ukraine.” That same year, she founded her own company, UP UA Studio—a full-cycle production house focused on feature, documentary, and auteur cinema. Under her leadership, the company produced over 20 films, including international projects in co-production with Poland, the UK, and the USA.
Polina has experience producing both short and feature-length films, covering all production stages—from project development to final release. She also manages international film presentations, festival strategies, partnership building, and co-production coordination.
In 2022, after moving to the United States, Polina founded UP USA Studio (Los Angeles), developing Ukrainian-American film initiatives and production projects. She has also organized numerous social festivals and film days, such as the Cinema Days in support of Oleg Sentsov and the Ukrainian Film Days in Los Angeles in 2022, held in collaboration with American Cinematheque.
Since 2024, Polina Herman has also been working as a personal growth coach, engaging with clients at both the conscious and subconscious levels. She is the author of the transformational game “I AM”, a practical tool for deep work with female identity, creative potential, and archetypes. Additionally, she develops her own artistic practice, creating transformational paintings that serve as a space for inner experience and awareness. Polina is also the author of the artistic-psychological book “A Guide for Provincials” and is developing her own clothing brand, Herman, which combines the aesthetics of creativity and inner strength.
From 2022 to 2026, Polina worked across two countries, continuing to create and promote Ukrainian cinema. In 2026, she decided to focus on her personal development in other fields and dedicate more time to her American production company. Therefore, after ten years of work, Polina transferred her Ukrainian company, UP UA Studio, to her partner Anastasia Pugach and fully concluded her business affairs in Ukraine.
Currently, Polina is actively preparing her directorial debut—the film “The Key” (Klyuch), which synthesizes her extensive experience in film producing, psychology, and coaching.
