King Lear: How We Searched for Love in a Time of War
Due to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, tens of thousands of Ukrainians, escaping the war, found refuge in the small town of Uzhhorod in western Ukraine. A local director decides to involve non-professional actors—displaced persons—to realize his long-held dream: staging the play “King Lear.” The theatrical performance helps them find themselves and their purpose in a new world where war exists, while helping the director find the answer to the eternal question of what love is and why this world must not perish.
